| Requirements: BS or AS degree in HIM or HIT from an accredited program desired. Current registration as RHIA or RHIT, CCS required. 3-5 years coding experience in an acute setting. Extensive knowledge of reimbursement systems, ICD-9-CM and CPT coding principles and guidelines. 3-5 years of hospital coding experience for ambulatory services. Knowledge of HIPAA as it pertains to patient confidentiality and release of information guidelines. Minimum computer competency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, be familiar with copy machine, facsimile, and typing skills of 50+ wpm. | Description: This position is responsible for timely, accurate, and comprehensive abstraction of physician services from the medical chart/record, utilizing appropriate CPT-4 procedure and ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes. |
